Perils Of The Party Season

18 December 2014

Take care when you are getting ready to celebrate the festive season.  Research from Sainsbury’s Home Insurance reveals that just over a quarter (26%1) of Brits have caused some collateral damage to their home in the process of getting ready to go out.

Anyone attending or hosting parties this season could consider taking out accidental damage cover when arranging their home insurance.

Accidents don’t just happen to those getting ready to go to a celebration; those hosting parties can also experience mishaps. Sainsbury’s Bank’s survey showed that 19%1 had suffered some kind of accident resulting in damage to their homes whilst hosting a party.

Tom Thomson of Sainsbury’s Home Insurance said: “Accidental damage cover is essential for those wanting to protect themselves against accident and mishap in the home. During party season it’s worth taking extra care so that the goodwill of the season can be fully enjoyed.

“Key items to ‘keep tabs on’ include candles, irons, and hair straighteners. We’d recommend putting valuable items out of reach, and above all, urge everyone to have a great time.”

Sainsbury’s Home Insurance customers can rest assured that their policy’s cover increases over the Christmas period by an extra 10%(2), to ensure that expensive gifts; food and wine will be covered.

Nectar card holders can benefit from 30%(3) off home insurance for new customers with 5 years claim free, and £30 to spend instore(4)  if they arrange a quote online through the Sainsbury’s Bank website or on the telephone before 29 December 2014.
